BACK! With a mountain to climb…Need YOUR help!
12 Jul
So…it’s almost embarrassing how long it’s been since I’ve written on my blog and it’s time for me to get back “into the groove.” However, lest you think I’ve been loafing, I’m back with a challenge that’s keeping me pumped and motivated. Before I steal my own thunder, the following is a copy of the letter I’m getting ready to send out that tells the story (hey, you may even get one!).
If you haven’t already heard through some other channel, I have decided to run a half marathon. It has been on my list of things to accomplish in life for a few years. I thought it was somewhat selfish to do this “just because” so I have decided to do it for a “higher cause.” I am running with Team in Training which is a division of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They train me to run the race and I get to raise money for the Society which helps research blood cancers. Most of us know someone who has been affected by cancer so I am excited for this opportunity.
Where I need your help is in giving toward my fundraising goal of $3200. It’s an overwhelming amount but I know it is possible. I am thankful for any amount and know that it will make a difference – every dollar counts. How can you give?
- Online – at “tinyurl.com/emmalene” . Credit card payments will go directly to my fundraising.
- Checks – please make out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society– just remember to put my name in the memo section along with Nike Women’s Marathon. Please send checks directly to me at 104 Spartan Ct.Greer,SC 29650.
Donation amount ideas:
- $1.00/ mile $13.10
- $2.00/ mile $26.10
- $3.00/ mile $39.30
- $4.00/ mile $52.40
Remember that the entire marathon benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Also if you send me names of people whom you know who have won or lost the battle with a blood cancer I will wear their names on a ribbon on race day. Please feel free to check out my fundraising page at tinyurl.com/emmalene. I will try to keep it updated with my training so you can see how my fundraising is progressing.
I appreciate your consideration and support very much!
